Apple is planning to announce its most-sold product – the iPhone soon. The latest from the iPhone lineup is going to be iPhone 16.
Technology, especially in this mobile phone phase, has matured. So, every year there is a little room for improvement. As for the iPhone 16 models, there have been improvements here and there. Some of them are significant while some are just too small to notice.
For example, according to the rumors the camera bar on the base models is going to be vertical. The screen size for the Pro and Pro Max models is going to increase.
There’s a lot more to be covered so, join me as I dive deeper into the rumored upgrades for the latest iPhone 16.
The Design Upgrades
Previously Apple was using a square-shaped camera frame that held the lenses vertically along with flash. This time around, it’s a vertical pill-shaped frame with cameras also being vertical. The flash is placed outside the frame of the camera lenses. This is going to be the first thing that you’ll notice in the new iPhone 16 base variant.
Now, let’s move to the sides. On the left side, you will see an additional button located on top of the volume rockers. That button is an action that was only available for the Pro models in the iPhone 15 lineup. Now, the iPhone 16 users will be available to enjoy the perks of the action model.
Moving on to the right side, it is rumored that Apple may be including another button for capturing photos. The button is going to work best when the phone is in landscape mode.
As for the size, the base model is going to remain exactly the same as last year but the Pro model will get bigger because of the display.
The Performance Upgrades
I already have a great performer iPhone 15 Pro Max which lets me enjoy casual and heavy mobile gaming through my reliable Spectrum Internet. That said, I think there won’t be any significant performance jump this year. However, there will be new chipsets for the base and Pro models.
As for base models, Apple plans to use the latest A-series chip based on N3E 3-nm architecture.
Like previous years it’s unlikely that the Pro models will use this same chipset. They might have some powerful chipsets with Pro in their names.
The Display Upgrades
Let’s start with the sizes before I move ahead with the new display technology.
I mentioned earlier that the base models will remain of the same sizes. It is the Pro models that will likely be getting bigger. The iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max will get a 0.2-inch increase in the display – the greatest ever in an iPhone. The Pro model will be 6.3-inch diagonally while the Pro Max will be 6.9-inch.
Let’s talk about the display technology now. The new iPhone will be using micro-lens technology that boosts the brightness while keeping the power consumption low. Micro-lens technology basically reduces the internal reflection by using an identical pattern of billions of lenses.
Apart from that, Apple has incorporated BRS (Border Reduction Structure) technology to further push the bezels to borders. It helps with the efficient layout of circuitry without affecting the performance of the display.
The New Colors
Yes, you can expect to see some new shiny colors on the iPhone 16.
According to one rumor, there are going to be seven colors for the new iPhone: blue, pink, yellow, green, black, white, and purple.
The famous Apple journalist Ming-Chi Kuo has suggested that there is going to be this array of colors for iPhone 16: black, green, pink, blue, and white, without purple or yellow options.
Green, blue, pink, and white with no yellow shade is the suggestion of Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
Last but not least the dummy models of the iPhone 16 suggest these color options: a light pink, a darker blue-green shade, and a vibrant blue, along with black and white.
